Hi Melanie, I've used a box for mine in the past and it was fine, choose a sturdy box I suppose, and a strong base so when you lift it it doesn't twist. Some kebab sticks pushed through the cake strengthens it too. S

At one point just before I wrapped it in icing my cake looked like the whole thing was about to fall apart. I wrapped it tightly in cling film and put it in the fridge for a while, that firmed the whole thing up so I could wrap it in icing. S

We have decided what to do. Thanks very much for the help so far. We have decided on someting completely different from those places previously discussed.

We want to do Penshaw momument complete with the Lambton worm of the song fame. And it could inlcude a small bit of the river Wear where the worm was supposed to come from and of course the crusades and sir john etc. Probably getting a bit carried away and it will depend on what Jyll thinks is do-able when we get to the design stage shortly. Hope this is OK. I didn't see it mentioned on the site..

I think we are going on a wine tasting visit to Peterlee with Rhian next week so we can do a quick site vists of you confirm its OK to go ahead.
