I've chosen my building and have some "ideas" floating around. I just need to put pen to paper and get them sketched out.All will be revealled this weekend, the building, the bake plan, the construction plan, the materials and the build team.But I'll be blogging about it - oh yes, you can't keep me quiet :)Roll on Cakebook 2012.The very LAST one I'm doing. We experimented with sugar & water, boiled up and left on greasproof to harden - this created glass-like shapes, however cutting it was difficult, and after a few days in the air the nice 'clear' look of the 'glass' went opaque.Insead we decided to cut pieces of black icing and pipe-in the white frames.I chose the Bridge Hotel specifically because it didn't look like it had many window to do.When we visited the site we noticed all of the werrd and wonderful windows on the side facing the…See More

Excuses first:I've been slacking recently weekends in training for Northern Rock Cyclone, plus keeping my allotment relatively weed-free whilst sowing & planting, and then also creating a carnival float for Whit Bank Holiday weekend for family in North Yorkshire. Cakebook 2012: The last bake
Cakebook 2012 is an event organised by Newcasle Gateshead EAT Festival 2012. The event calls upon bakers amateur (like me) and professionals to bake cakes and craft them into a building...
In 2010 it was a building/structure from Newcastle/Gateshead, and I baked The Bridge Hotel, which I was really pleased with.
In 2011 it was a building/structure from the North East and Yorkshire, and I baked Bamburgh Castle, which I was quite disappointed…
