Well what a day. Enjoyed every minute of it but was glad to get home for an icy shower. Woo Hoo we came 3rd. I crawled to Gibside with the cake in the car this morning but flew home, obviously wasn't too bothered about killing it on the way back lol
Everyone did a fantastic job, pat on the back :)

Forgot to say Iona & Nick should be banned from next years event, haha only joking :)

What a brilliant day; well done to all the bakers and organisers. This was my first Cake Book and I've loved it

It seemed a long way back to West Yorkshire but The Corn Exchange arrived back in one piece. Tomorrow we are taking it for the team who are building the Forget me Not Children's Hospice here in Huddersfield - quite like the idea of feeding builders with a building.

Thanks everyone.

Does anyone know who made the Lindisfarne cake?? Lindisfarne NT staff think its fab :)

Hi Melanie,

Linsdisfarne was made by Jyll Cradock from the Feathers Inn at Hedley on the Hill, The same person who made the Angel of the North last year.

You can find out a bit more about us at www.thefeathers.net contcat us on info@thefeathers.net or call Jyll on 07584055182

Incidentally the Oysters we were selling at Cakebook on Sunday were from Holy Island and we used to get our mussels from there too, but sadly no more.

We were expecting that the cake would be in a charity auction this week but we seem to have got the dates wrong and its next week by which time the cake maybe stale.

So if you know who at Lindisfarne NT made the comment and if they are interested to use it in some way then please pass on the contact details above.

Regards

Richard Cradock

cake makers assistant

Thanks Richard. I'll pass your details on
