Winners of Cakebook (North)
On June 26th 2011 a giant, edible map of the North East and Yorkshire was built at the National Trust's Gibside, Gateshead.
One hundred teams of amateur and professional bakers came from across the UK to build their favourite landmark heritage site in cake. The creations were placed on our map to create a visual and gastronomical feast as Cakebookers and the public picnicked around the perimeter.
It was a magical event, thanks to everyone who took part and made it so special.

Well its all quiet on the cake baking front, but how many of you are already planning for next year. Bigger and better than before. Every building I drive past, I wonder how I could make it out of cake. I think it takes over your life. Washington Old Hall cake went to the birds last week, not sure if the birds could fly after they ate it.See More

For the benefit of everyone trying to build a cake next year, I'm doing this one last blog entryGibside was a smashing day Simon...
