Welcome to CAKEBOOK BRITAIN 2012

Cakebook North in June 2011

Photography Richard Kenworthy

On Sunday July 15th 2012 a giant, edible map of the Great Britain will be built in Gateshead. Cakebook Britain will be the third event in the series following Cakebook NewcastleGateshead in 2010 and Cakebook North in 2011.

We are seeking one hundred teams of amateur and professional bakers from across the UK to build their favourite landmark heritage site in cake (and to tell us why they chose it). The island map will be divided into ten regions, each showcasing around ten cakes (click The Cakes tab above for details).

The creations will be placed on a 100sq m edible map (which the public will help to build) to create a visual and gastronomic feast as Cakebookers and the public picnic around the perimeter.

The finale event will include the best local producers selling picnic food, giant foodie games for all the family, kids cooking workshops, a schools competition, farm animals with more to be announced.

How To Take Part As A Baker

First, sign up to this website and then have a look at The Cakes page by clicking the link at the top of this page. There you will find a list of all the cakes already claimed and instructions on how to claim yours. Once you've decided please contact simon@graceonline.co.uk
